Alcaraz and Tiafoe are scheduled to meet at a Charlotte exhibition event.

This December, Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz will square off in an exhibition battle in Charlotte.

The first Charlotte Invitational will take place on December 6, 2024, and some of the top players from the ATP and WTA Tours have agreed to participate.

Fans at the Spectrum Center, home of the Charlotte Hornets NBA team, will have the opportunity to see a rematch of the 2017 US Open final between Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens in the women’s match.

In the men’s match, spectators will witness a repeat of the US Open 2022 semifinal between Alcaraz and Tiafoe, which saw the young Spaniard become the youngest player to hold the top spot in the global rankings.

The introduction of the tournament follows Charlotte’s failed attempt to acquire the Western & Southern Open, often referred to as the Cincinnati Open, which, in spite of the negotiations, remained in Cincinnati.

Danny Morrison, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, is optimistic about the new “Invitational” tournament, though, as it has drawn some of the world’s top tennis players.

Alcaraz, who will be the biggest star competing at the 2024 Charlotte Invitational, is happy to slightly extend his season and show the fans in Charlotte his tennis qualities, which they will have a chance to see multiple times during the summer all over the United States.
