Aston Villa in Contact with Sporting Key Man

According to the Portuguese daily O Jogo, Aston Villa “remain in talks” to sign Pedro Goncalves, a midfielder for Sporting.

Villa has revived interest in the midfield player because of his incredible consistency. West Ham is eager to sign him as well.

In recent games, the 25-year-old has surprised everyone by playing in the deep playmaker role. He has been having an amazing campaign.

An inside source reveals that Villa has long been interested in the player and has now rekindled that interest. They “remain in talks” about a possible transfer after getting in touch with the player’s representative to inquire about his contract status.

Goncalves has a contract with Sporting until 2027 and a release clause of over £68 million, so Villa knows it won’t be easy to entice him away after the season.

Summer of next year
Villa will not be able to sign him in January. Sporting has stated unequivocally that none of their top players will be traded during the season.

Ninety percent of the player’s economic rights, who looks to be content in Portugal, go to the Lions. He has been one of the team’s finest players with over 150 appearances.

Goncalves has performed admirably this season, tallying eight assists and ten goals while primarily playing in the deep midfield position.

This month, Villa has different goals in mind. They have placed their third bid for Middlesbrough winger Morgan Rogers, who they hope to sign. The team is optimistic that they will be able to sign him this month.

Goncalves is an excellent midfield player with versatility. Villa will have a stronger chance of luring him away the following summer if they can finish in the top four and qualify for Champions League football.
