Birmingham begins their League One season with a match against Reading.

Birmingham City ended last season in the Championship in the third-to-last position.

Birmingham City will begin their first season in England’s third tier in 29 years with a home match against Reading, while Wrexham will welcome Wycombe Wanderers for the Welsh club’s return to League One.

Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United, who were relegated from the Championship along with Birmingham, will start their campaigns against Peterborough United and Exeter City respectively, with both matches set for 17:30 BST on Saturday, 10 August.

League Two champions Stockport County will play Cambridge United on the opening day, while Mansfield Town, who were automatically promoted with Stockport and Wrexham, will face Barnsley on Friday, 9 August in their first game of the new League One season.

Crawley Town, who secured promotion by defeating Crewe Alexandra in the League Two playoff final in May, will play against Blackpool in one of the 11 third-tier matches kicking off at 17:30 BST on the first Saturday.

On that day, matches across the three English Football League divisions will be staggered, with Championship games beginning at 12:30 BST and League Two games at the traditional 15:00 BST slot.

Sky Sports will broadcast all the opening round fixtures live as part of their new £935 million five-year deal with the EFL.

The first midweek league fixtures of the season will take place seven weeks later on Tuesday, 1 October.

The 2024-25 season will end on Saturday, 3 May 2025.
