Blake Treinen Eyes Comeback: Dodgers Reliever Ready for a Strong Return in 2024

At DodgerFest this Saturday, reliever Blake Treinen spoke to the media after an extended absence. The 35-year-old pitcher has faced challenges staying active on the field for the past two years, primarily due to various shoulder injuries that sidelined him for the majority of 2022 and the entire 2023 season.

In November 2022, Treinen underwent surgery to address issues with the labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder.

In the previous year, there were speculations about Treinen making a late-season comeback with the Dodgers. However, after a few rehabilitation starts, the team decided to shut him down, concluding his 2023 season prematurely.

Now, following a complete year of recovery and a standard offseason, Treinen is eager to rejoin the Dodgers bullpen. Throughout his tenure with Los Angeles, he has been a dependable late-game reliever, boasting a 2.45 ERA and 1.010 WHIP in 103.0 innings in Dodger Blue.

Treinen’s role in 2024 could be pivotal for the team. Not only might he reclaim his position as the team’s top reliever, but his performance could also influence whether Evan Phillips can resume his role as the team’s fireman. When questioned about his absence last year, Treinen explained that he “didn’t feel right.”
