Chelsea move to sign Aston Villa striker after intense discussions

To address their striker headaches, the Blues have identified Jhon Duran of Aston Villa as a possible short-term solution.

Despite winning four of their last five Premier League games, Mauricio Pochettino’s team is currently mid-table in ninth place.

The London club will be looking to add some reinforcements to their team in January as they have a crucial few months left to try and salvage their season.

Chelsea has made significant transfers in the last two seasons, but they still lack a striker, who is a vital member of their team.

Ivan Toney, Evan Ferguson, and Victor Osimhen have all been connected to moves to the Blues; however, these three may have to wait until the summer to make a decision.

The team may try to sign a temporary replacement during current transfer window; Duran of Aston Villa has reportedly been “discussed internally,” according to Nathan Gissing of Sport Mole.

The 20-year-old signed with Unai Emery’s team in January of last year, but the Spanish coach has had difficulty getting the young player any regular playing time.

Despite starting every game from the bench, Duran has made 14 appearances in the Premier League thus far, scoring two goals as a forward from Colombia.

Ollie Watkins is regarded as the clear favorite for the role, so a move might work for the 20-year-old, though Villa would prefer that he be replaced before he departs.
