Eagles’ A.J. Brown to Miss Wild-Card Game vs. Bucs

Due to a sprained right knee, wide receiver A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles will miss Monday night’s wild-card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. According to Schefter, Brown might play in the divisional round the following weekend if the Eagles beat the Buccaneers.

Brown sustained the injury during the first half of the Eagles’ Week 18 loss to the New York Giants. As he recovers from the injury, he has missed Philadelphia’s first two practices this week. On the other hand, after being limited on Thursday, quarterback Jalen Hurts—who is battling with a dislocated finger—participated fully in Friday’s practice.

The Eagles will probably rely more on Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith to handle the bulk of the pass-catching duties in Brown’s absence. Julio Jones, Olamide Zaccheaus, and Quez Watkins, three depth receivers, may also experience a boost in workload.

With 1,456 receiving yards on 106 receptions, Brown has had an excellent season and was selected for the Pro Bowl.

Monday night at Raymond James Stadium, the Eagles (11–6) and Bucs (9–8) will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET. ESPN and ABC will be airing the television program.
