HIJACK: Atletico Madrid Crashes Barcelona’s Move for Manchester United strike

Right under the nose of rivals Barcelona, Atletico Madrid has begun negotiations to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.

The attacker is impressing while on a season-long loan at La Liga team Getafe.

Following allegations of domestic abuse, Greenwood was sidelined for eighteen months before United concluded it would be best for him to leave Old Trafford.

Greenwood has taken some time to regain his fitness since joining Getafe, but his recent play has been outstanding.

In 15 appearances, the attacker has five goals and four assists.

Barcelona has been linked to Greenwood, and are eager to hand him the prized no. 10 shirt formerly worn by living legend Lionel Messi.

However, due to Barcelona’s precarious financial circumstances, Atletico has slipped ahead of the Catalans in the battle to sign Greenwood.

The player, who has a contract with United that runs at least through 2025 with an additional year option, is reportedly valued at over £40 million.

Diego Simeone is pleased with Greenwood’s adjustment to life in Spain, and negotiations between the Spanish and United have begun over the “conditions” of a transfer
