Managerial Changes and Prospects: Barry Corr Interim Leader as Monk Eyes Permanent Role

Barry Corr is currently leading the U’s on an interim basis after Neil Harris left the club to return to Millwall. BetVictor has set the odds for Corr, as well as for Monk and former Barnsley head coach Michael Duff, to potentially take over permanently at 6/1.

Monk has been out of managerial roles since November 2020 when he was relieved of his duties at Wednesday. His departure came amidst a struggle for Championship survival, which ultimately ended in relegation for the team.

While Monk’s time at Middlesbrough wasn’t particularly notable, he received praise for his managerial stints at Swansea City, Leeds, and Birmingham City. He notably guided Leeds close to the Championship playoffs after years of disappointing performances.

During his break from coaching, Monk has been linked to various positions, including interest from Italian side Sampdoria earlier in the season, though no move materialized.
