NBA Suspensions Shake Up Miami Heat vs. New Orleans Pelicans Clash

In the aftermath of the heated clash during the Miami Heat’s 106–95 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday, the NBA has announced several suspensions.

Jimmy Butler of the Heat and Naji Marshall of the Pelicans will each serve a one-game suspension for their involvement in the brawl. Furthermore, Heat’s Thomas Bryant and Pelicans’ Jose Alvarado face three-game suspensions for leaving the bench area during the on-court altercation.

Nikola Jović, a forward for the Heat, has also received a one-game suspension for leaving the bench to join the altercation.

The incident unfolded just over 11 minutes into the fourth quarter when a foul by Miami’s Kevin Love on Zion Williamson sparked a confrontation. Marshall and Butler engaged in a shoving match that escalated, requiring intervention from players and staff to restrain them.

A second skirmish erupted between Bryant and Alvarado at the scorer’s table shortly after the initial altercation, leading to ejections for Butler, Marshall, Bryant, and Alvarado. The two teams are set to face each other again on March 22 when the Pelicans visit Kaseya Center.
