West Ham exit Possible following Leeds United transfer stance on Ben Johnson

Ben Johnson, a defender for West Ham, is Leeds United top target on loan in the ongoing transfer window according to popular news.

The Championship team is searching for a new right-back as Middlesbrough has agreed to sign Whites defender Luke Ayling.

The 23-year-old Johnson, a product of the Hammers academy, will not be renewing his contract in the summer after seeing his playing time decline this season.

Given their current lack of depth in several defensive areas, West Ham is undoubtedly not in a position to approve this deal.

This is mainly because Thilo Kehrer has an obligatory obligation-to-buy clause in his contract with Monaco, which allows him to go on loan to the French team during this window.

Johnson can slot in anywhere across the back four, even though he hasn’t been playing at his best lately. Johnson was once thought to be a bright player for the future at the London Stadium.

But since Vladimir Coufal is the only other senior option at right-back, where he plays most of the time, he really can’t be allowed to leave until someone else steps in.

Although the Englishman’s future in East London is unlikely to extend past this season, given that he has appeared in four of the previous five games, he may remain for the time being if nothing changes in the next three weeks.
